Robert H Richmond is a research professor and director of the Kewalo Marine Laboratory at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. He is also a Pew Fellow in Marine Conservation, Aldo Leopold Fellow in Environmental Leadership and a fellow of the International Coral Reef Society. He is one of five independent scientists engaged by the Pacific Islands Forum secretariat to review the plans for Japan to release the treated, accumulated cooling water from the Fukushima-Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant into the Pacific Ocean. He acknowledges the contributions of fellow panel members – Arjun Makhijani, Ken Buesseler, Ferenc Dalnoki Veress and Tony Hooker.
